Summer Camps at Clay for Kids
Clay is an exciting tactile experience and clay camps offer you a setting that is both individual and collaborative as well as a hoopla of fun!
A variety of ceramic techniques are explored: working with the electric potter’s wheel, designing and constructing slab projects, drap-molding over a balloon, working with both coil and pinch methods, clay painting, glazing and decorating. In addition to newly explored techniques, each student will produce one themed project per day and one take-home project per day.
The Great Outdoors
With Fish Creek Park in our backyard, it would be a shame not to explore the parks, beaches and paths. Great news! During full-day clay camp, we do just that! Tack on a picnic, some games and outdoor exploration with our two supervisors and you’ve added the cherry on top of a terrific day at camp!
What you’ll want to Know
Our camps are for youth from 5 - 14 years of age. Each student will be evaluated by skill and pottery experience and placed in either our primary or advanced class (some exceptions apply based on age). There are two instructors per camp class that will assist in technique, encouragement and exploration. There are no additional material fees! Tuition includes class and individual instruction, clay, aprons, tools, kiln firing, paints, glazes and snacks.

Monday – Animalmania!
Create all sorts of animals in the form of masks to full bodies to animal mugs.
Tuesday – Wizards, Fairies, Castles, Oh My!
Working with clay is a magical experience. Choose a character from a favourite book, video game or movie and learn new techniques to help you bring your fantasy to life.
Wednesday – Glam your Garden
The possibilities are endless! Create a gorgeous flower taller than your bike! Invite a few of Calgary’s birds with a handcrafted clay birdhouse or make an elegant rope and clay bird water feeder.
Thursday - Balloon Draping
You will tap into your imagination as you explore transforming a two-dimension image into a three dimensional piece of clay art through the drap-molding technique.
Friday - Personal handprint
Whether you customize your handprint to accessorize your garden or your bedroom wall, it’s just the thing needed to say thanks to your parents for this fantastic camp experience.
Prices and Times
Clay camps run from Monday to Friday
Half Days
Half- day camps run from 9:00 a.m. - noon or 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
One day = $55.00 plus gst (includes snack)
Five Days = $245.00 plus gst (includes snacks)
Full Days
Full Day camps run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
One day = $115.00 plus gst (includes snacks and lunch)
Five Days = $515.00 plus gst (includes snacks and lunches)
